Raising perceived value on the 800X Rally

An experimental brand, graphics, and landing study to raise perceived value on Kove’s 800X Rally, adding to a performance story that is already there. Not a commissioned case.

Raising perceived value on the 800X Rally

This is a personal experiment on Kove’s 800X Rally: not a commissioned case, and not a live product. Kove already builds performance motorcycles. The intent was to add to that: simplify the brand and the tank graphics, and design the first impression of the model page, so perceived value sits closer to what the bike already is.

Zhang Xue started as a mechanic and a motocross rider. He founded Kove in 2017 with motorsport as the destination. If he could not ride Dakar himself, he would build a bike that could. In 2023 the factory finished Dakar with every motorcycle it entered, a first for a Chinese manufacturer on debut. That line (rider, engineer, race-to-road) is the concept. Performance. This study did not invent a new one. It tried to let that idea read more clearly on the 800X Rally.

Brand

The existing Kove mark is a manufacturer lockup. For this study I redrew the wordmark and how it sits on fairings, so the name could live at motorcycle scale without competing with the model code.

The system stayed monochrome plus the bike’s teal. Type and spacing did the hierarchy. The job was not a new color story. It was to make KOVE, 800X, and Rally read as one performance line on plastic, in print, and on a screen.

Graphics

On a motorcycle, perceived value starts on the tank. The factory side view still reads as a parts diagram: 800 on the cowl, KOVE on the panel, and extra marks competing for the same plastic.

Factory graphics: 800 on the cowl, KOVE on the side panel.

I cleaned the livery so the silhouette, the teal, and a few large letters could carry performance without extra decoration. The studio side view is that direction: Rally graphics on a white field, with KOVE cut through the teal on the tank, fairing, and fork. The adventure-bike architecture stays: tall screen, crash bars, knobby tires, with the identity on the surfaces people see first.

Studio: Rally graphics on the tank, fairing, and fork.

Photomontage

The cover is a photomontage. I used AI to place the redesigned graphics onto a bike in sand, then adjusted light and edges so the livery felt photographed rather than pasted. The point was not a perfect render. It was a fast way to judge whether the graphics held up in a rally context before spending more time on the landing.

Landing

The landing is the first impression of the model page, what you see when you arrive at the 800X Rally. The live page already has a desert hero, a full nav, and a long model name with a paragraph on top of the photograph.

Current site: desert hero, full nav, and a long model headline.

The study strips that down to one hero: the desert bike, a quiet KOVE nav, the name, and four specs underneath: 799 cc, 180 km/h, 95 hp, 176 kg. No extra chrome. The photograph does the selling; the numbers confirm the performance.

Landing: desert hero, quiet nav, and four specs.

This stayed an experiment. The work is a study of brand, graphics, and a landing, not a proposal Kove asked for, and not a claim that this is how the 800X Rally ships.
